Mobile Laptops: The HP Pavilion sequenceMobile notebooks tend to become thin, tiny, and lightweight. Regrettably, HP’s flagship line of mobile notebooks possesses none of these features. Sure, you can bring the Pavilion dv2700 series with you about the plane, for the coffee shop, or just about anywhere else without having worrying about booking advance appointments for the chiropractor. But compared with competing models of similar capability and selling price, HP notebooks are heavyweights.Adding to the mobile woes of the Pavilion dv2700 series is the battery living. Coming regular having a six-cell lithium-ion battery, the notebooks have a really limited battery life. You are able to customize and upgrade to a twelve-cell battery, but this means you’ll laptop will weigh even extra than the 5.29-pound base model. So why take into account an HP laptop computer if the attributes are few and the laptop or computer is a clunker? In short, the cost. HP notebooks are significantly much less costly than competitors, and you will get a satisfactory machine for your cash. If you’re in the market for the top-of-the-line process and extravagant includes, look elsewhere.Mainstream Laptops: The HP dv6zHP’s dv5z notebook series is aimed at casual people who don’t want a whole lot of sophisticated, technical functions. That’s not to say that the notebooks don’t have some fantastic includes or customizable choices, but there’s genuinely no innovation here either. The regular system is fairly basic such as an AMD Athlon X2 Dual-Core Processor, 2 GB DDR method memory, and 160 GB challenging drive with 5400RPM. The electric battery living leaves a great deal being desired. The six-cell lithium-ion electric battery is weak, plus the restricted battery lifetime will make you think twice about bringing dvz5 designs traveling with you. You are able to customize, but be conscious that you are notebook will cost a lot more and weigh more based on what upgrades you pick. The highlight of dv5z designs could be the screen: a 15.4-inch Hi-def Brightview widescreen display. Regardless of whether you are viewing pictures, on the net video, or enjoying a film, the detail is vivid and elegant. HP also offers you the option of improving the screen to beautiful Hi-def 1680 x 1050 top quality. So that fairly screen does not go to waste, a Blu-Ray player is among possible upgrades. Combined with other useful multimedia includes, the Blu-Ray upgrade will probably be especially attractive to consumers who are inside market for an all-purpose house computer system. If the notebook screen isn’t large enough for you, and you’ve an HDTV, the HDMI output on all dv5z types permits you to transform your TV into a giant computer system monitor. Not just can you watch Hd movies, but you’ll be able to also view any other media in beautiful Hi-def excellent on your television.Dv5z versions are not cutting-edge, but they are capable and—more importantly—inexpensive notebooks that will satisfy all of your basic computing requirements.Media Laptops: The HP dv9600tHP didn’t skimp on any aspect of their media-savvy dv9600t collection. Both hardware and software attributes and optional upgrades will appeal to consumers with high expectations and a reasonable budget. The Intel Core 2 Duo Processor T5750 (2.0 GHz), 2 GB of DDR2 procedure memory, and 250 GB hard-drive with 5400RPM comprise the smooth-running process that may handle all of your demands with expediency. Even though hard-core gamers may be disappointed using the 256MB NVIDIA GeForce 8400M card, customers trying to find a notebook to handle all of their media in style will locate dv9700t products superbly qualified. By upgrading, you’ll be able to treat your lucky fingertips to even more power. When you might be shopping for a notebook and inevitably confronted with so many almost indistinguishable products from dozens of brands, the small things generally are the most significant characteristics. While you most likely won’t eliminate this desktop replacement from its permanent household really generally, it weighs less than 8 lbs. Along with the battery living is also an impressive achievement. The eight-cell lithium-ion batteries are efficient and long-lasting.But the dv9700t series is built to tackle all types of media. Quickplay 3.6 makes it possible for you to access your media at the touch of the button, and included Photosmart editing software program, you possibly can touch up and trick out your images. Dv9700t models arrive having a basic CD/DVD drive, but for the handful of more bills, you are able to get yourself an integrated Blu-Ray player. And the 20.1-inch Hd Brightview display is ideal for showing off the pictures of one’s kids—and your high-tech new toy!

There are different types of Notebooks. Each has its own pros and cons. It depends on you which one is best suited for you. Some of the types of notebook are given below Ultraportable Ultraportables systems are so light and small that you’ll hardly know they’re in your laptop bag. The smallest ultraportable is sometimes referred to as sub-notebooks having 10-inch displays and confined keyboards. • 2kg or less • Less than 20mm thick • Little displays (12 inches or smaller) • Slower mobile processors, less memory, and smaller hard drives • No internal CD, CD-RW, or DVD drives • Ports are very less • Microsoft Windows XP Home or Professional

Thin-and-light

A thin-and-light offers the best balance between portability, performance, and features, particularly for business travelers. • 1.8 to 3kg • Less than 40mm thick • Medium sized displays (12 to 14 inches) • Powerful mobile processors, lots of memory, spacious hard drives • One exchangeable internal CD, CD-RW, or DVD drive • All standard ports • Microsoft Windows XP Home or Professional

Mainstream or value notebooks This notebooks bring the performance and features that most users need without all the stuff they don’t. Though these devices are a bit lighter and smaller than desktop replacements, mainstream notebooks still aren’t suitable for business travelers. • 2.5 to 4kg • Approximately 40mm thick • 14-inch display or larger • Value mobile processors, base amounts of memory, and small hard drives • Two fixed or exchangeable internal drives for floppy, CD, CD-RW, or DVD drives • All standard ports • Microsoft Windows XP Home

Desktop replacement A desktop replacement is prepared for just about anything, but it rarely ever ventures off the compressed path. Because of its big and heavy size they are uncommon to traveler. But these give the best performance and the most features available in a notebook.

• 3.5kg or more • Over 40mm thick • 15-inch to 17-inch displays • Fastest mobile or desktop processors, most memory, and largest hard drives • Two exchangeable internal drives for floppy, CD, CD-RW, DVD, or DVD recordable • All standard ports and multimedia connectors • Microsoft Windows XP Home or Professional

Tablet PC

They are available in two basic designs: tablets that look like traditional notebooks, but with displays that turn round and fold flat facing outwards, and slates that have no attached keyboard

• Less than 2kg (some slates weigh as little as 1kg) • Most of them are compact. • 12-inch digitized displays • Same mobile processors, memory, and hard drives found in ultraportables • No internal CD, CD-RW, or DVD drives • Fewer ports, • Microsoft Windows XP Tablet PC Edition

Moleskine products such as Moleskine notebooks also known as the Moleskine diary, are nothing short of legendary. Made in Italy, these fantastic products add a touch of class and sophistication wherever they are seen.

Moleskine notebooks (aka the Moleskine diary) have been used for centuries, and by some of the world’s best creative minds, such as Henri Matisse, Pablo Picasso, and even Ernest Hemingway. They were originally produced by French bookbinders who supplied stationary shops in Paris where the intelligentsia of the day sourced their writing materials. After falling out of production for a time in 1986, Moleskine notebooks or the Moleskine diary wasthen brought back into production in 1998 in Italy when a Milanese publisher decided to resurrect the tradition. Pretty soon they were again circling the globe and finding their way into the briefcases, bags, and pockets of sophisticated men everywhere.

Bound in tough, great-looking oilcloth, Moleskine notebooks feature a special spine that allows them to lie flat when they are open, so you can use all of every page easily. The Moleskin diary also feature an elastic strap to keep them closed when not in use, and a pocket at the back for collecting scraps of loose paper.

Sure, a Moleskin diary is a little more expensive than an ordinary notebook, but who wants to be ordinary? Moleskine notebooks are also a lot cheaper than a PDA, and we do mean a lot! You could buy Moleskine notebooks for years for the price of one digital assistant.

Some of the things that other men have used their Moleskine notebooks for include wishlists; birthday present ideas for loved ones; restaurant, movie, and book reviews; names of good bottles of wine you don’t want to forget; random notes and sketches; snippets of poetry or song lyrics; phone numbers; to keep memorable concert tickets ; shopping lists; love letters you’ll never send; top tens (e.g. Your top ten albums or your top ten beers);

lists of what to pack when travelling, so you don’t forget next time what you forgot this time; lists of what to pack when going camping, so you don’t forget the can opener, again!

…And many, many more! A quick Internet search will reveal that there are many, many Moleskine diary lovers out there. One things for sure- there is no shortage of good uses for Moleskine notebooks.

Wouldn’t you like to carry a Moleskin diary with you everywhere you go? You never know when the inspiration of a great idea will strike, and when it does, you need to capture it on paper before it goes away! A lot of men these days are going digital with their diaries, but trust us – nothing beats the timeless classics that are the Moleskine notebooks (aka the Moleskine diary).

If you look at the computer notebook market, you’ll realize that
a lot has changed. Most new notebooks these days are dominated
by the Intel Pentium M processor. This CPU allows notebooks to
be designed thin and light due to its low power and high
performance.

If you’re a wireless network fan, you’ll also realize that most
notebooks have wireless network support by default. Many laptops
also have a much wider screen to allow enjoyment of multimedia
and games.

Here’s a personal scoop of the top 5 thin and light notebooks
out in the market right now.

Toshiba Satellite M45-S3511

Powered by an Intel Pentium M 740 (1.73 GHz) processor and 512
MB of RAM, the Toshiba Satellite M45-S3511 is well suited for
both home and office use. It also comes with a widescreen
display, a speedy 8x DVD+/-RW burner and a huge 100 GB hard
drive. A very nice notebook that is highly recommended.

Gateway M460XL

The Gateway M460XL is powered by an Intel Pentium M 750 (1.8
GHz) processor and 512 MB of RAM. The battery is very
long-lasting and there’s also a modular bay for adding an extra
hard drive, a floppy drive, a CD-RW or DVD drive. You also get a
8x DVD+/-RW burner and a 80 GB hard drive.

Sony VAIO T240P/L

The Sony VAIO T240P/L notebook comes with an Intel Pentium M 1.2
GHz processor, 512 MB RAM and an Intel 855GME graphics core. Its
long battery life will help keep you working for hours. There’s
a big 60 GB hard drive, but only a CD-ROM / DVD-ROM combo drive
and a small 10.6 inch screen. Despite these shortcomings,
however, you get a top quality brand name notebook that looks
slim and sexy to boot.

Asus V6V

The Asus V6V laptop features a fast Intel Pentium M 1.86 GHz
processor, 512 MB of RAM and an ATI Mobility Radeon X600
graphics processor. This makes it great for high performance
graphics and games, especially with the included 4x DVD+/-R
burner and a 60 GB hard drive.

HP Compaq nc4010

The HP Compaq nc4010 notebook comes with an Intel Pentium M 725
(1.6 GHz) processor, 512 MB of RAM and an ATI RADEON IGP 350M
graphics processor. The downsides of this laptop are the small
12.1 inch viewable screen size, the lack of an optical drive a
small 40 GB hard disk. However, its price is hard to beat and
one of the lowest in this list.

Conclusion

Whew! That’s a whole lot of notebooks for you to look at. Try to
keep the above thin and light notebooks in mind when you’re out
shopping for one. Compare other models you find against these to
help you make a better purchase decision. Good luck

Netbooks are all in vogue since the last two years. They were introduced first by Asus as the Eee Pc. The netbooks available currently are much higher versions of what was available two years back. Intel specially introduced the Atom processor for netbooks and smaller size PCs. The question you may have in mind is whether you should purchase a netbook or a notebook. You should totally go for a notebook if you are just looking to replace your PC with a portable solution and need as much computing power. You will need a notebook if you plan to run resource-intensive applications, graphics intensive programs, games, etc. Netbooks work best if your use of the computer is mostly restricted to using the Internet. For bloggers, a netbook is God-sent from heaven. If you use the computer only for browsing the Internet, checking your emails, updating Facebook, chatting on IM, etc., a netbook is perfect for you. If you travel constantly and need to do all the above stuff on the go, you will find using a netbook much more convenient compared to a notebook. It’s much lighter, smaller and has a longer battery life. Go for an SSD hard disk and your netbook will be so light that you won’t know that you are carrying a computer in your bag. Some netbooks are known to last for more than 10-12 hours alone on their battery which is very difficult to get on a notebook. If you plan to play simple card games like Solitaire, etc.then a netbook will work fine. But if you plan to go for actual games like shooting, racing, etc., a notebook will be a better option. If you plan to watch DVD movies on your computer, you can’t do it on a netbook because most netbooks do not have an in-built disc drive. But every notebook computer has a disc drive and a larger screen. So watching movies is a far better option on notebooks than on netbooks. Now that you know most of the differences between netbooks and notebooks, go and take your own decision.

As a traditional trunk and travel accessories brand, Louis Vuitton also serves as a go-to guide for the cosmopolitan traveler. For instance, the travel notebooks combine artist’s sketches of major cities and information about points of interest along with the location of the Louis Vuitton shop nearest the landmark.

London Travel Notebook filled with beautiful watercolor illustrations of city highlights, from Sloane Square to Chelsea painted by Aurélie de la Selle reveals London is a city of art, design and theatre. On the Athens Travel Notebook is the watercolor illustration of ancient Roman column by Pavlos Habidis. As you travel in this mythic city, it is amazing to hide the charms and capture your discovers in this chic travel notebook Inspired by “The Girl from Ipanema” and its exotic rain forests and glamorous nightlife, Louis Vuitton came up with the Rio Travel Notebook with the watercolor illustrations of Rio’s famous beaches and landmarks painted by Rio de Janeiro. Paris Travel Notebook features the gorgeous watercolors depicting Parisian streets, landmarks and parks. While on the Travel Notebook Sydney is the Australian painter John Wolseley’s watercolor illustration of Sydney’s attractions such as gorgeous architecture and sparkling beaches. Mumbai Travel Notebook consists of illustrations based on India by Florine Asch with the elephants, maharajahs and turbans. The spirited and vivacious Mumbai leaps out on the notebook. From the Metropolitan Museum to the Statue of Liberty, the illustration on the New York Travel Notebook explores the Big Apple with an elegant way.

Besides the beautiful illustrations on the Travel Notebooks, they include plenty of blank space to record your sketches and observations, along with a pencil in its own holder and a supply of postcards. I deem the remarkable city notebooks evoke a more gracious era of travel.

The term Notebook computers and laptop computer is often used interchangeably. However notebook computers are smaller, lighter and costlier than laptop computers. You can carry this computer with you when you are away on a business trip, can watch movies and access internet also.

The first notebook computer which was launched in the market in 1981 was expensive and was not as versatile like present day computers .Portable versions of laptops were launched in the market by IBM and Epsom in 1983.

With introduction of Windows 95, the world of notebook computers took a giant leap forward and was now able to compete with other personal computers because of the operating system and the advancement of technology. Prices of these computers started falling, attracting more consumers. Life of battery improved and acids were no longer required. The notebook computers now consumed less power and could hold more data.

Notebook computers come in various sizes. For a quick reference, have a look at the following figures (without power adaptors and accessories): Tablet PC – it weighs less that 3 lbs; Ultra Portable – it weighs less than 4 lbs and less than 1.3 inches thick with size between 10 and 11 inches; Thin and Light – it is between 1 and 1.4 inches thick and weighs between 5 to 7 lbs with size from 11 to 14 inches; Desktop replacements (Largest) – it is 1.5 inches thick and heavier than 7 lbs. Size between 11 and 13 inches.

Some important points are listed here which may help you to have an informed purchasing decision:

Size and Weight: The point to remember that while choosing a very lightweight and small size, you may have to sacrifice some items such as drives. So you have to decide what you want.

Processor: Note book processors perform like desktop processors. Dual core processors carry multitasking and are common. Notebook processors directly impact the battery life and performance of the computers. For Intel premier processor, higher the number, the faster it will process. The rotational speed of the disk also affects the performance of these computers.

Memory (RAM): For Windows XP and Mac OS X, at least 256 MB is required. However the capacity of RAM is increasing with new varieties of notebook computer and in some machines it is 2 GB even!

Displays and Video: In a notebook computer video consists of video processor and display. Again the display consists of native resolution and screen size. But portability will be reduced with larger display. These days the popularity for the wide screen displays is increasing. Performance of PC gaming and 3D graphics will be determined by graphic processor.

Drives: Optical drives play an important role in notebook computers. These may be simple CD ROM drives to the high definition DVD burners. Most notebook computers these days are equipped with a dual layer DVD burner.

Connections: Wireless Fidelity (Wi-Fi), 802.11a, 802.11b and 802.11g, Fujitsu lifebook N6010 having trimode of 802.11a/b/g, etc are different wireless system available with notebook computers. Transferring rate of data depend on the type of wireless connection chosen.

Battery Life: Notebook computers come with four cell, 6 cell, and 8 cell batteries. Normal battery life is 2 to 3 hours. However 5 or 6 hours battery life is also available these days. Generally, the bigger the notebook computer, the lower is the battery life.

Warranty Plans: Make sure that you get at least one year warranty from the manufacturer while choosing your notebook computer. A system having a three year warranty will be a better choice if you are going to use your computer extensively.

It is suggested that you should update your knowledge periodically by logging onto the net keeping in mind the factors which need to be checked as stated above.

When we hear the word `notebook` the first thought that strikes our grey matter is a writing device in the form of a book usually made of paper. We generally imagine it in various forms like notepad, writing pad, or simply a scrapbook. Its use is generally determined by its size – not forgetting the general saying `the smaller, the better`.

The concept (of notebooks) which started as a collection of leaves somewhere in ancient Rome has today taken the shape of a latest electronic device called the `laptop`. Laptops were named `notebooks` probably because of their small size inspite of the fact that originally they did not have any note-taking ability.

Initially laptops had integrated screen and keyboard and were more like `suitcase computers` but with advancements in technology they kept getting smaller in size with enhanced features. Laptops were referred to as notebooks when they had condensed in size comparable almost to a paper notebook. Moving a step further we got something called PDA`s (Personal Digital Assistants) which were a little larger than portfolio notebooks and were named `notebook` to differentiate them from general laptops. In common man`s words these were called `Palm tops`.

The quest for comfort did not end with the PDA`s. Moving a step further we got a much better and advanced version of PDA s called the `Tablet PC`s`. Tablet PC`s are laptops or rather notebooks that have a special pen and software with which we can interact with the screen directly. So it was a kind where we can actually write on with a pen – a real master piece in the world of science! Here the screen itself is used as the Input-Output device rather than the Mouse or the Keyboard. Moreover these PDA`s and Palmtops use flash memory and they do not use the same OS or hardware as used by the typical laptop and notebooks.

Today notebook refers to laptops that can have their windows reversed to make it into a notebook and can be written on like a tablet. It can be used for making handwritten notes in class or to make sketches and drawings that can later be used as notes.

What makes the notebook indispensable is its portability, efficiency coming next to it. Today we are not under the constraints of working for fixed hours in office; our work can come home with us, thus, providing us with a more comfortable and relaxed environment. Other than that the notebook occupies the least possible space on the desk and saves us from the tangles of wires. To top it all the sleek, sensuous look of the portable notebooks makes it the most desirable asset today.

As the saying goes, if you want to gain something you should be ready to lose some too. Here the loosing factor comes in the face of money. This piece of sophisticated technology is twice as expensive as its desktop counterpart or sometimes even more than that. But since all good things come in small packages, the notebook as well should be accepted with its exorbitant price realizing the fact that it is paving the way for a simpler and efficient future.

Despite the notebooks being smaller and elegant, it is a bitter fact that it can never completely take over the desktop. The reason being the deficiency of space to fit in all the components and the lack of escape routes for heat. Moreover upgrading the hardware in a notebook becomes an overpriced task and can be done much easily and reasonably in a desktop.

Inspite of these various shortcomings the fact remains that the era of literature and arts has been succeeded by the scientific era with computer being at the centre of this renaissance.
